Judging by my posts here, I can come to a few conclusions. I love my family, the sport of football, and my country. America is the greatest country in the world. Democracy, freedom, and thousands of men and woman willing to sacrifice their lives for that freedom. Recently I saw on Twitter that former San Francisco 49ers and University of Alabama running back Glenn Coffee, traded in his cleats for cargo pants and an Army uniform.
Reading this, my mind switched to Pat Tillman, the former safety for ASU and the Cardinals, who did the same thing as Coffee, but died in battle in 2004. Tillman, is one of my many heroes, and exemplified the American spirit, and showed what freedom meant to him.
Coffee enlisted in the United States Army on February 4, 2013. Weird to think that just three years before that, he was playing professional football in San Francisco.
He graduated from the Airborne School about six months to go, and plans on becoming a Green Beret.
So just when you’re thinking about how we live in the greatest country in the world (America, hell yeah), just remember how lucky you are when you have guys like Glenn Coffee protecting your freedom.
